Principal

My experience in education starts very early in life, I learned about the importance of education as a child listening to my parents, who were both teachers. As I grew older, my mother completed a Master’s Degree in Pedagogy and my father became a Principal. My parents instilled in me a passion for education that I still value to this day. I have a strong belief that education is the key to success.

I graduated from the University of St. Thomas Houston with a Master’s degree in Bilingual Dual Language education. My goal to become better prepared to serve my students began at this great institution. Much of my experience is in elementary education. My first year teaching was as a second grade teacher at Fisher Elementary, but I have also taught third and first grade. Outside of the classroom I was a Mathematics Instructional Coach at JD Parks Elementary.

One of my favorite quotes is from Fabienne Fredrickson, and it reads “The things you are passionate about are not random, they are your calling.” The quote echoed in my head for a few days and I memorized it. I realized how education has been part of all my life, and how it does not feel like a “normal” job. It’s an extraordinary job.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Principal at Carroll Elementary. This is certainly not just a job for me. I will work every day with the goal in mind, to support our students and teachers in their journey to success.  I will also keep learning to better serve our Sheldon ISD community.
